I whole heartedly agree with you regarding the fact that this should be a wake up call for blacks. Bill Cosby has said that blacks are their own worst enemy, not holding up their end of the bargain. He also did not say that for all blacks, just the lazy ones.
The 10% that I give to my church every week comes back to me, even if it is during tax time. At the end of the year, every check that I have given is tallied, put on a receipt, and presented as a charitable gift.
My sons is in tag classes and always has been. He excells in football, basketball, and track as well as his academics. He wants to do something with his life.
People handle things differently. My husband was raised in the deep south where things were very slow. He didn't really learn much until he got out of there on is own. He looks back (he's 30 and part Japanese) and wonders how ignorant he still would have been had he stayed there. Different times and different places for different people.
Depending upon where you grew up, some things may not be afforded to you and you may not know how to get out and search for anything better. Every race is having a struggle; may not be the same struggle, but still a struggle. Ever wonder why the suicide rate is climbing?
But to boldly say that a race SHOULD be discriminated against isn't the whole picture. It doesn't bother me that he is asian or that anyone else is; I couldn't care any less. I am more concerned with who the person is on the inside.
